Happy Easter!

We hope everyone had a very Happy Easter and Resurrection Day! We are so thankful that Jesus overcame the grave so that we can live forever. We enjoyed celebrating at our Sunrise Service and greeting guests at the next service at church.

We also celebrated with family this afternoon. Next Easter, the family will be a little larger with Baby Easton! What a wonderful weekend!

Hello Third Trimester!

I can't believe it! We are 2/3 of the way to meeting our little Easton! Words can not describe how excited we are. I love being pregnant and having this precious baby in my tummy, but I know that having him in my arms will never compare!

This week marks 27 weeks of being pregnant with Easton. We have A LOT going on in our lives. On top of Daniel and I both working 60+ hour weeks, we have been preparing for the baby (and trying to fit in some rest)! I am going today to a visit with the pediatrician and we have also been talking to people about child care. I went to my 26 week appointment last Thursday and go back in three weeks. After that, I will be going every 2 weeks. I can not believe it is already almost that time! Also, we had a nice visit from Daniel's mom, sister, and our niece on Sunday. They came to Georgia to visit everyone and spend the day and night with us. It was great to get to visit with them.

27 Week Update:

Baby Size: Baby Easton weighs almost 2 pounds (like the head of a cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with his legs extended.

New Developments: He is sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his little eyes, and maybe even sucking on his fingers. His brain is very active now and lungs would be capable of function if he were to be more although they are still immature. Hiccups are common from now on.

Mommy: Has gained 19 pounds since pre-pregnancy weight. This is probably why my back has been hurting. I still have no trouble sleeping though, not surprising since I am always tired!

Last Week: I had that oh so fun gestational diabetes test. It wasn't very fun, but was not horrible either. I got to drink this tasty drink and they drew my bliss. I haven't gotten the results yet, but let's hope for no diabetes!

Note for Easton: We love you so much already! Time is flying by and you will be here before we know it. We love you!

Easter Burlee!

Last Sunday, I decided my house needed some Easter decor. We have one little bunny and that is it! I put away my work things and took out my craft stuff to make an Easter burlee. I love making these for two reasons, they are cheap and easy! Here it is in progress.

And a little guidance for those who have never made one...

You will need:
Burlap
Craft paint (I use the little tubes of acrylic paint)
Paint brushes/sponges
Stuffing
Hot glue gun

1. Trace your design onto newspaper and cut it out.
2. Pin your design to the fabric (front and back). And cut the burlap out. You should have two identical pieces of burlap that are not attached.
3. Paint your burlap. Depending on where you are going to put it and how much time you have, you can paint the back side too. Let it dry.
4. Put stuffing in between the two pieces of burlap and hot glue the edges of the burlap together. You can glue ribbon or twine into it as well to hang it up.
5. You are done! So simple!

Here is my finished product! I hopefully will accumulate one for every holiday. I love having them hanging up around the house.

Happy Easter! Can't believe it will be here next weekend. Looking forward to our Good Friday service and Easter Services at church as well as celebrating with family. This holiday is so important to us, representing the resurrection of Jesus Christ as he overcame the grave! We have so much to CELEBRATE!

Week 26

We are now 26 weeks along!

Baby Size: Easton is now the length of a cucumber, about 14 inches long. He is also about 1 2/3 pounds. He continues to put on fat.
New developments: The nerves in his ears are more developed and sensitive. He can hear his mommy and daddy talking. He is inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid. He is still practicing for when he has to breathe outside of the womb!

Mommy: Had to make a surprise trip to the doctor last week due to my sunburn. When it got to be Thursday and my legs were hurting and a blueish color under the skin the doctor wanted me to come in. He had never seen anything like it and didn't know of anything I could do for it. It is getting better now though.

This week: The baby bedding is here! Daniel's dad is in town and his mom will be this weekend. We have been working like crazy! Time is passing by very quickly! He will be here before we know it! 26 week appointment is on Thursday!

Sew Fun!

Last night, my mom and I went to an applique sewing class. We had a lot of fun! There were seven girls there, all sewing for BOYS! We each made two onesies for our little boys! I made one with a sailboat and one with a puppy dog on it. Mom made one with an "E" and one with a cowboy boot. Neither one of us had sewed in a LONG time. It wasn't a hard project, but wasn't too easy either since we hadn't operated a sewing machine lately. Here are some pics! Thank you Mary at Just Sew Studio for being patient with us, and we enjoyed sewing with Danielle, Dana, Megan, and the others! All these boys are going to be looking good in their appliqued onesies!

25 Weeks!

Baby Size: Baby Easton is now about 13 1/2 inches long. He weighs about a pound and a half. He is finally getting some fat on him, and he is growing more hair too.

New Developments: Capillaries are forming under his skin and filling with blood. His nostrils are starting to open up this week. His lungs continue to develop preparing him to breathe on his own.

Mommy: Has definitely become less graceful! This past weekend I was on a roll. I spilt a cup of marinara sauce all over the couch. Then, I spilt nail polish remover on me and the chair (outside, thank goodness)! I just need to be in a bubble!

Clothes: All I wear now is maternity clothes. I basically had to get a new wardrobe. I enjoy having clothes that are comfortable and cute though. And I don't look like I'm busting out of my other ones any more!

This week: I ordered the baby bedding! I'll show pictures when we get it on the crib! I'm so excited to finally have that decision behind me and can't wait to get it!

Next week: I go for our 26 week check up. This will be when they test me for gestational diabetes along with all the normal stuff. The following week I will meet with our pediatrician.

The sun came out and it finally got warm! I got a little too excited last weekend and am now suffering! I sat outside and read for an hour or two on Saturday and got sunburnt! Talk about some aching legs and swollen feet! I enjoyed watching Daniel get the garden ready though and just relaxing! One more month of tax season!!!

Note for Easton: I am so excited you will be born in the summer and I can start taking you for walks/jogs as soon as we are ready! I can't believe your arrival is just three months away! I love feeling you kick every day. I know you are going to enjoy playing outside with your daddy and the doggies. We are so thankful for you already!

24 Weeks!

Only 16 weeks left. Time sure is flying by! Can't say it's because I'm having fun at work, but I do have fun thinking about this sweet baby that will be here soon. My mom and I enjoyed a nice Saturday morning registering at Target and doing a little shopping. Returned a few things and got a couple more cute outfits at the maternity store. Of course we made a stop at Gymboree and got little Easton a few more adorable outfits! We have really found some great deals in there lately.

Baby size: Easton weighs just over a pound and is about a foot long (the length of an ear of corn). He is very lean, but will be filling out proportionally now.
New developments: His brain is growing quickly and taste buds continue to develop. His lungs are developing the necessary substances to survive once his body hits the outside world. His skin is till thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Mommy: I sure do have trouble sleeping on my side, but am making it work with my Boppy body pillow. I overheard someone asking the lady in the maternity store who would actually buy one of those. I wanted to tell her she has no idea. I LOVE that thing! I sure am ready for some warm weather. This cold weather is no fun!

This week: I am looking forward to Daniels 30th Birthday! We are going to celebrate next Saturday in Atlanta, and the weather is supposed to be beautiful!
